Their future is uncertain.
You can help.
Hundreds of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) in Emmet and Charlevoix Counties need affordable, safe housing. The majority either live with aging parents or must move to group homes hours away from their families and friends.
Ann’s Nest believes we can do better for our friends, neighbors, and family members with IDD.
Proposed design for 6-bedroom, 6-bathroom home with two living spaces, staff room, and card entry.
Why housing?
Because housing provides safety, stability, and connection. And right now, over 70% of adults with IDDs nationally still live with their parents—parents who worry: “What will happen to my child when I’m gone?”
Emmet and Charlevoix counties lack good group homes for IDD residents—the shortage is critical.
Without intervention, individuals with IDD risk poor health outcomes, isolation, unmet potential, and insecurity.
This is a challenge we can solve in our community.
But we need YOU to do it.
Let’s build a home where people with IDD thrive.
A home. A community. A future.
Our vision is to build a vibrant campus where residents thrive through independence, dignity, and belonging, and families and community members connect.
Together, we’ll build a place where people with IDD can live fulfilling lives and families will find peace of mind.
“Everyone deserves a place to call home where they will be safe, healthy, and valued. We want to build that place for people with IDD.”
